BK Wines Cult Syrah 2015
Bright violet color. Heady, exotically perfumed bouquet evokes dark berry liqueur, olive paste, bacon fat, pungent flowers and camphor, plus a zesty black pepper overtone; this is a dead ringer for a wine from the northern Rhone. Spicy and incisive on the palate, offering gently sweet blueberry and violet pastille flavors and a strong note of spicecake. Shows outstanding clarity and lift on the finish, with dusty building tannins adding grip.
BK Wines was established in 2007 by Brendon and Kirstyn Keys with a goal of creating fabulous art. Beautiful, unique, sensuous, deceptively minimalist, envelope-pushing art. After learning from masters in NZ, Argentina and California, they trained their sights on the Adelaide Hills. In Adeleigh Hills, where there are few pretensions or preconceived notions about what wine styles are the best, non-conformity is the rule.
The winery is situated Lenswood where it is tucked away, surrounded by bush land and vines. Brendon says his greatest strengths as a winemaker are his passion for artistic expression and his uncompromising quest for high-quality fruit.
When it comes to the process of winemaking, Brendon’s goal, first and foremost, is to source exceptional small vineyards producing grapes that reflect the individuality of a particular site. As a winemaker he uses a minimalist approach to gently guide well-chosen fruit to a beautiful final result in the bottle. This combination of an artistic soul and unyielding quality standards makes Brendon a recognised master of his craft.
