EDDIE MCDOUGALL'S TASTING NOTES
A deep rose gold in the glass, this Champagne Rosé is a powerful force to be reckoned with. With a nose like a fresh bakery, of warm sponge cakes and bread, caramelised toffee and sweet cherries, the palate is broader with more savoury notes and herbal complexity. Finishing off with stewed fruit and honey, this crisp and dry Rosé is definitely intense.
Our "Brut Rosé" is a blend, but its composition – 90% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Noir – is quite unusual. The Chardonnay grapes – selected for their freshness, vibrancy, energy and finesse – come from the village of Grauves, whereas the Pinot Noir grapes – lending red berry aromas (strawberry, raspberry) – hail from the village of Aÿ. What distinguishes this rosé Champagne is its high quantity of Chardonnay.
A lovely pink with orange highlights. The nose is upfront, with fruity overtones (apples and red berries). The palate is both soft and crisp, displaying balance and freshness. The fruity character remains subtle, making this charming cuvée an ideal rosé Champagne, perfect with red berry desserts and many other dishes.
Located in the historical heart of La Côte des Blancs, the village of Avize has benefited from the Grand Cru special status since 1908. It’s actually in the centre of Côte des Blancs, at Avize, that Chardonnay is best represented.
Not as well-known as blended Champagnes, 100% Chardonnay, Champagnes ,called ‘Blanc de Blancs’ in French, are highly prized by experts who enjoy their delicate aromas, finesse and minerality.
De Sousa vines are grown using organic methods that are in harmony with Nature and the environment and which give the vine a natural balance, This develops and reinforces the natural defences of the vine and allows it to express its maximum quality potential.
