Haras de Pirque Reserva Carmenere 2013
Dense ruby __with purple reflections. Spicy, wonderfully typical CarmŽn?re nose. Warm spicy notes of cinnamon, bay leaves, black pepper and rosemary. Black currants, plums and subtle hints of violets accompany this. Dry, full, spicy and full-bodied. The aromas of the nose are repeated. A characteristic wine with lots of flavor and pleasant finish.
The magnificent Haras de Pirque estate occupies a privileged position at the foot of the Andes, in ChileÕs Maipo Valley region. The lovingly tended vineyards are on largely north-facing slopes, from the middle of which rises a unique horseshoe-shaped gravity-flow winery, inspired by the estateÕs other claim to fame: as an internationally renowned thoroughbred breeding farm. The wines are a collaboration between the Matte family, who own the estate, and Antinori; they thus benefit from a synthesis of input from top Chilean winemakers and AntinoriÕs own Renzo Cotarella.
