La Magia Brunello Di Montalcino Riserva
2007:2,100 bottles produced from 100% Sangiovese grapes. Wow! Wonderful nose of dark fruits and freshly cut flowers. Forest floor as well. Full body, with chewy tannins that are interwoven with ripe fruit. This is rich, structured yet balanced. It will improve with age wonderfully. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2030.
2004:3,800 bottles produced from 100% Sangiovese grapes. “A full and chewy Brunello, delivering an intense character of dried, decadent fruits, with undertones of coffee and meat. An impressive, opulent wine.” Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022.
2007:James Suckling - 95 points

TIn 1979 the Schwarz family from the Alto Adige purchased La Magia and moved to the Montalcino area to dedicate themselves to the production of wine. The estate, which is situated below the extinct volcano of Monte Amiata and directly above the Romanesque abbey of Sant’Antimo, enjoys one of the most magnificent views within the Val d’Orcia.
The property covers a total of 52 ha, approximately 130 acres, of which 15 ha of Sangiovese vines grouped in one unique vineyard, entirely classified Brunello di Montalcino. The age of the vines, the soil in which they grow and the southern aspect of the property combine to confer unique organoleptic qualities and longevity to the wines.
Harald Schwarz, who until recently has run the company in association with his parents, has now passed the day to day management of the estate to his son Fabian, a graduate of the prestigious San Michele all’Adige Institute, who has himself worked full time at La Magia since 2005.
