Louis Moreau Chablis Premier Cru Vaillons 2017
Under the law of Hong Kong, intoxicating liquor must not be sold or supplied to a minor in the course of business.
This Premier Cru wine is very generous, fleshy and lively. Its very poor soil is composed of clay and calcareous marls, which ensures its minerality and vivacity - so typical of the Chablis appellation, offset by a concentration of aromas that stem from the old vines which give to the wine its roundness and richness.
It expresses smoky and flinty notes on the nose, along with an elegant hint of pear. In mouth, iodine and minerality notes make it a little shy but suggest elegance and good length.
Located in the Northern part of Burgundy, 180 km (100 miles) away from Paris going South/East, Chablis vineyard appellation covers 4800 hectares over 19 villages. Made up of 100% Chardonnay grapes, its unique character is due to a soil called Kimmeridgien, composed of calcareous and clay layers.
The Moreau family presence in Chablis starts at the beginning of the XIX century when, in 1814, Joseph Moreau came from Montbard and established himself as a cooper. In 1904, Jean-Joseph (3rd generation) brought a plot called “Clos des Hospices” within Grand Cru Les Clos to the Chablis Hospital. This plot has been a family monopole since then.
Since 1994, Jean-Jacques has left the direction of the family estates to his son Louis who represents the 6th generation of Moreau and leads Domaine Louis Moreau.
