Tenuta Di Ghizzano Nambrot 2009 (Magnum)
2,000 bottles produced from Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grapes. “The 2009 Nambrot is striking. Today it comes across as impossibly young and dense. The bouquet still needs time to develop, but it is impossible to miss the depth and finesse of the fruit. Firm yet well balanced tannins support a gorgeous, inviting finish laced with blackberries, tar, smoke, licorice and violets. I can’t wait to taste this in a few years. Nambrot is 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 20% Petit Verdot aged in French oak barrels.” – Antonio Galloni Anticipated maturity: 2014-2030 Own wooden case.

For centuries, everything was produced “traditionally” in Ghizzano, observing the safe, solid quality of “things done properly” as locals say. Never daring to be different, never attempting to raise the hurdle. The family began the “natural” organic winegrowing journey in 2003, with no use whatsoever of organic fertilizers, weed killers, insecticides and fungicides. They decided to nourish the earth with green manure seeds and other seeds, which add nitrogenous substances (e.g. oats and clover). Respect for nature, the place that hosts us and the people that live and work there: these are the principles that the family has always observed in its management of the Tenuta di Ghizzano estate and has handed down through the generations.
